100 Interns Complete Their Mentorship In Makueni County Government

Makueni County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education and ICT Elizabeth Muli has noted that the main objective of having interns in different departments of the government is to empower them to enable them navigate the competitive job market.

Muli said this on Thursday at the Centre for People with Disability (PWD) Wote where 100 interns who are in the sixth cohort completed their transformative journey in the past one year in different departments in the county government.

‘Today we have an exit meeting in a mentorship programme that has seen 100 interns benefiting from March last year. Our work is to nurture them so that they can transform their lives. Over 10 of them have secured jobs elsewhere,’ observed Muli.

‘Through rigorous mentorship sessions, interns gained indispensable skills, from crafting and compiling Curriculum Vitae (CVs) to enhancing their personal branding amidst competition,’ she added.

While challenging the exiting interns to be strategic, the CECM asked them to position them
selves to benefit from the internet where jobs are advertised.

Muli also revealed that the government will advertise for the intern positions in April 2024 clarifying that the application will be done online.

‘We have plans to advertise for the next cohort in April and everything will be online. We have developed an online system that applicants will apply through unlike last year where they submitted their applications manually,’ she noted.

On her part, Education Chief Officer (CO) Irene Makau urged the outgoing interns to plough back into the community by being ready to serve the people they live with at the grass roots.
