Ouagadougou: The Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO, staying in New Delhi, spoke in the afternoon of this Thursday, July 25, 2024 with his Minister counterpart of Culture of the Federal Republic of India, Gajender Singh SEKHAWAT.During the discussions, the two personalities first took stock of cultural cooperation between the two countries linked by a Cooperation Agreement in existence since 1987 and which needs to be strengthened. Minister of State Jean Emmanuel praised the excellent cooperative relations between Burkina Faso and the Federal Republic of India, especially in the field of culture.'We have shown the mutual interest in creating the conditions for cultural exchange so that our artists can meet for co-creation but also benefit from other spaces of production and representation,' he maintained. .The Head of the Department of Culture took the opportunity to invite his Indian counterpart to the next FESPACO which will be hel d in March 2025. He also received in return the invitation from the Indian Minister to the next Cinema Festival which will be held in November 2023 .Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO also pleaded for the support of the Federal State of India for Burkina Faso's candidacy for the inscription of the Royal Court of Tiébélé in the UNESCO World Heritage List.This Friday, July 26, 2024, before the officials of the World Committee, the Burkina team will defend the inscription of the Royal Court of Tiébélé in the World Heritage List. The Head of the Culture Department says he is confident in view of the quality of the file presented by the technicians who worked upstream.If, however, the inscription of the Royal Court of Tiébélé is pronounced, Burkina Faso will register its fourth site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, after the Ruins of Loropeni (in 2009), the W-Arly Complex -Pendjari (in 2017) and the Sites of ancient iron metallurgy (in 2019).Source: Burkina Information Agency
