4th Indigenous Seed and Food Harvest Fair Showcases Kenya’s Agricultural Heritage


Nairobi: Well-preserved indigenous seeds are on display at the 4th Indigenous Seed and Food Harvest Fair taking place at the Governor’s Grounds in Laikipia County, celebrating Kenya’s rich heritage of traditional seeds. The exhibition, which began today and runs until tomorrow, October 15, 2025, is themed ‘Collaborating to Nurture Indigenous Seeds and Foods for a Better Future.’



According to Kenya News Agency, this year’s event aims to enhance collaboration among stakeholders and promote access to and utilization of indigenous seeds and foods to strengthen food security and encourage healthy eating for a sustainable future.



The 2025 edition will feature exhibitions of indigenous seeds, plants, and livestock, as well as workshops, presentations, keynote addresses, plenary discussions, and an award ceremony. Participants include farmers and stakeholders from across Kenya’s diverse agroecological zones-and beyond.
