'In the heart of Cameroon, incarcerated Muslim Scholar, Abdulkarim, arrested for calling an end to the war in North West and South West regions, made a stunning declaration as a new year message. His opening statements were a call for a collective cry against the shadows of domestic and international violence. Behind prison walls, his voice carried a poignant message that transcends confinement. That was Abdulkarim's 507 days in detention since his arrest on August 11, 2022. He described his arrest as an abduction and decried that other Cameroonians of English expression, whom he called Southern Cameroonians, were languishing in Cameroonian dungeons. His plea extended beyond borders, advocating for a free Southern Cameroon where violence and arrests have no place.Abdulkarim has become a messenger of resilience, urging the world to confront the root causes of violence and foster understanding. He also made revelations that about 90% of Anglophone prisoners are ill and cannot have decent treatment. But he l amented that the new year is not happy because Ambazonians ( those fighting for independence) leaders in the diaspora have given room for politics and 'groupism' instead of watching out for those at the war front and comforting them.Source: Cameroon News Agency
