Africa must not break relations with Ukraine, says Washington


The US administration believes that African countries should not sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine over kyiv’s support for terrorists, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said at a press briefing American.

‘We still believe that diplomatic relations are important and it is good that countries talk to each other and have the opportunity to resolve existing disputes and problems,’ he said of the severance of relations with the Ukraine by certain African countries.

‘Diplomacy is important and we therefore call on these countries to continue talking to each other,’ he added.

Asked whether African countries were turning towards Russia, Matthew Miller once again harshly criticized Moscow’s policy in the region.

Mali, then Niger, announced the severance of their diplomatic relations with Ukraine due to kyiv’s support for terrorists in the African country. These measures follow a statement by the spokesperson for the General Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Andrei Yusov, regarding the involveme
nt of kyiv in the attack carried out by armed terrorist groups against members of the defense and security forces. Malian security forces at the end of July in the Tinzaouatène region, in the north-east of the country, near the border with Algeria.
