Preparations for this year's Embu Rugby Sevens Tournament, to be held from July 12 to 14 at Moi Stadium, are in top gear.The organisers, Embu Rugby Football Club, is moving with speed to ensure the ground and all the necessary installations are in place for the tournament.The Club Chairperson, Bosire Abija said the competition will kick off with Under-18 contest, commonly known as age-group contest, on Friday, which will be more of a family fun day with no gate charges for spectators.He said so far, 16 clubs have confirmed participation, including Impala, Strathmore, Zetech, and Nakuru RFC, and others from the neighbourhood, including Meru, Chuka, and Kirinyaga.He said registration was still open to other teams across the country as long as they were duly registered and affiliated with the Kenya Rugby Union.'Our tournament is sanctioned by KRU, and so for you to participate, you must have registered and meet the standards set by the union,' he said.He added that there will be prizes to be awarded to winners.He exuded confidence that the home team will emerge as the overall winner after posting good results in the Meru Sevens two weeks ago, where they took second position.Additionally, Bosire said security will be beefed up to ensure the tournament runs smoothly.Source: Kenya News Agency
