By Stephen TADAHAA lady has been arrested and detained by elements of the National Gendarmerie in Babadjou subdivision in the West after her prayer scamming operations were foiled on two occasions. The lady and her accomplice, a man who is reportedly on the run approach their victims pretending to be workers of a Non Governmental Organization for peace and then ask for the location of a supposed center for peace in the area. The lady whose name has not been revealed, then proceeds with prayers claiming she is rewarding her future victims for their kindness.A lady, Matho Bryanne, who luckily survived the prayer scamming operation this February 13 says she almost fell into the trap when the lady, during the fake prayer session, began revealing strange things saying her life is at risk.'I was approached by the lady, well dressed who politely told me she was in search of a peace center in the locality. When I told her I don't know any of such centers here, a man just came from behind and claimed he knew t he so called center and that he would go show her the centre,' Bryanne told us.'The lady began appreciating me for my kindness and said in reward, she would pray for me. Something I accepted without hesitating. During the prayer she began telling me that my life is in danger and that some of my family members want to kill me,' Bryanne added. The fake woman of God together with her accomplice went further to tell the lady that the money she has at home needs prayers for it contains bad bank notes.'She asked me to go home and take the money I have, with a bit of oil and salt so that she prays on it in order to shatter the 'possessed' bank notes. I agreed and went back home but did not return because I felt they were scammer,' Bryanne said.Bryanne then alerted her family members and security forces resulting to a manhunt which led to the lady's arrest. Her accomplice on his part succeeded to escape.Another person, a bike rider also confessed he nearly got duped by the couple when he was also approached this same day.Source: Cameroon News Agency
