Ouagadougou: The departmental Environment service of Banfora organized, under the patronage of the Regional Director in charge of the environment, Hassim Rabo, on Friday August 9, 2024, a reforestation day to strengthen the plant cover of the Siniena grove, a village attached to the commune of Banfora, located 10 kilometers away.The Banfora departmental environment service, in collaboration with the inhabitants of the village of Siniena, planted 1,075 plants in the Siniena grove, composed of 1,000 Acacia nilotica, 25 Baobabs, 25 Ceiba pentandra, and 25 Pterocarpus .According to the Director of the Banfora Departmental Environment Service, Adrien Wobama Nabié, the objective of this reforestation is firstly to fight against deforestation, and then to make this grove a reference botanical garden with the introduction of endangered and medicinal tree species.'The difficulties we encounter in safeguarding, protecting and maintaining this site are, among others: bush fires, lack of financial resources and equ ipment,' he said.As for the Regional Director of the Environment, Hassim Rabo, boss of this edition, he encouraged and praised the departmental service for this great initiative.He invited all environmental service agents, whether at the regional, provincial or departmental management level, to remain mobilized so that together they can fight against deforestation and plant usefully to green the environment.Mr. Rabo also invited the inhabitants of Siniena to mobilize to support the environmental services in the maintenance and protection of this site, because they are the ones on site.
