Bomet Athletics Kenya Chairman John Kimetto has send condolences to the family of world marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum who died yesterday in a road accident.Kimetto said the passing of Kiptum, following a traffic accident in the Kaptagat area of Uasin Gishu County at 11 p.m., was a big blow to the athletic fraternity. He said it was saddening to lose such an icon that Kenya depended on in marathon competitions. The official said he expected Kiptum and his predecessor Eliud Kipchoge to reap medals during this year's Olympics to be held in Paris, France. He reiterated that he stood with the family, fellow athletes, and the family of his Rwandese Coach, Garvais Hakizimana, who also died in the crash. The two were driving towards Eldoret when Kiptum lost control of the vehicle, which rolled several times before hitting a tree.Source: Kenya News Agency
