The daughter of Cameroon's longtime president, Brenda Biya, told French news Le Parisien that her coming out in June was a strong message to her father who is the Head of State to change the laws that punish homosexuality in Cameroon.'Coming out is an opportunity to send a strong message,' She told the French newspaper. She thinks that coming out as a Lesbian and child of a president in a country that prohibits such, will make others feel relaxed and have less pressure upon themselves.'I had my first crush on a girl when I was 16 years old,' Brenda Biya said, adding that it was hard for her to come out and tell the girl that she loves her because of the situation in Cameroon.Brenda said she had been dating her Brazilian girlfriend for eight months before gathering the courage to 'come out', 'I did not inform anyone, not even her, I just surprised everyone when I posted our picture on my social media account'She revealed that he brother called and was very angry, but her parents wanted her to delete th e pictures from her wall but she refused.Brenda Biya wants the government to decriminalize homosexuality in Cameroon but adds that she knows it could be hard because even her father met the same laws while being elected as president.Source: Cameroon News Agency
