Burkina creates an agency responsible for atomic energy


Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE chaired the Council of Ministers this Wednesday. According to the Minister of State, government spokesperson, Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO, the Council examined several reports and took important decisions for the smooth running of the Nation.

Under the Presidency of Faso, the Council adopted a decree establishing, attribution, organization and operation of the Burkinabè Atomic Energy Agency (ABEA). The Minister of State, spokesperson for the Government, Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO affirmed that the Head of State “clearly indicated that this achievement will make it possible to guarantee the energy independence of Burkina Faso, the industrialization of the country and facilitate access to electricity throughout the national territory.

On behalf of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Crafts, the Council adopted two reports. According to Minister Serge Gnaniodem PODA, the first report includes two decrees. The first marks the transfer of the
Artisanal Villages to the Ouagadougou International Craft Fair (SIAO). As for the second decree, it enshrines the modification of the statutes of the SIAO to take into account the Artisanal Villages which have been transferred to it.

The second report relates to a decree creating a mixed economy company called the Rail Manufacturing and Laying Company (Faso Rails), whose headquarters will be in Bobo-Dioulasso. ‘The creation of this company is in line with the vision of His Excellency the President of Faso, who instructed the government to work to establish, at the national level, a railway network that can connect the different capitals of province,’ argued Minister PODA .

With a production cost of around 70 billion FCFA, the establishment of the company is expected in 18 months, with a capital of 10 billion FCFA, 75% of which is held by the State and the remaining 25% open to the private sector. Burkinabè.

Under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Council adopted a decree on the terms of coverage of
specific services provided by public officials and resource persons. According to Minister Aboubakar NACANABO, “these are services related to the organization of international events, services for which resource persons outside the administration are called upon, services related to training, everything related to the organization of competitions, coverage of certain activities in professional schools and universities.”

In addition, the Council adopted, on behalf of the same ministry, a decree on the conditions and modalities of execution and remuneration of close protection services carried out by the personnel of the National Police and the National Gendarmerie for the benefit of individuals. For the Minister of Security, Divisional Commissioner of Police Mahamadou SANA, this decree not only regulates the matter, but also allows the State to now have control over the secondment of this personnel.

On behalf of the Ministry of Health, the Council agreed to free care and health services from mobile clinics i
n Burkina Faso. According to the Minister of Health, Robert Lucien Jean-Claude KARGOUGOU, the adoption of this decree will improve the financial accessibility of target populations to these health services. He specified that this free care concerns mammography and screening for precancerous lesions of the cervix.
