Cameroonian Activists arrested in Gabon, pleads for mercy

An anti-government activist, Ramon Cotta had gone missing with friends and family not knowing his whereabouts. But a recent video shared online shows Ramon in handcuffs pleading for mercy from President Paul Biya.

Reports said Ramon was arrested in Gabon and extradited to Cameroon, but the reports do not specify whether he was arrested by Cameroonian or Gabonese Police.

However, in the video, a Commissioner of Police in Cameroon, possibly serving in the South region could be seen standing beside the victim.

Other persons who seemed to be security operatives from Gabon were also present.

‘I am just a child, I plead for mercy from my father, President Paul Biya… I did not know what I was doing, I was deceived by my friends,’ He pleaded.

It is reported that the arrest was spearheaded by the Ambassador of Cameroon to Gabon, Mrs. Édith Ondoua Ateba.

Cotta whose real name is Akame Steve, has been a strong critic of the Biya regime, denouncing corruption and other vices.

It is not yet certain if he was freed
after the apologies.
