Catholic bishops in Africa have disapproved of Pope Francis’ recent declaration to bless same-sex couples, stating that it violates divine will.
The Roman Catholic bishops of Africa and Madagascar on Thursday, January 11, in a Symposium of Episcopal Conference, SECAM, issued a statement asserting that the Vatican’s endorsement of homosexual blessings is unbecoming.
‘The Church’s doctrine on Christian marriage and sexuality remains unchanged in Africa because it contradicts the cultural ethos of African communities. Homosexuality remains illegal in many African countries,’ Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, the President of SECAM attested.
Recently, several bishops of the Roman Catholic Church have disavowed Pope Francis in some of his outings, thereby going against the Vatican’s wish, which was at other times considered divine.
