The residents of Meru and Tharaka Nithi burst into celebrations with optimism after Interior Cabinet Secretary professor Kithure Kindiki was nominated the country's Deputy President following the impeachment of the former office holder Rigathi Gachagua.The news of Kindiki's elevation has been met with overwhelming jubilation in the region.The nomination is viewed as a historical moment for the region, which since independence has never had such a rank.'We are very grateful for the president for nominating our son to be his principal assistant and the second in command. This is a win for Mount Kenya East and all Kenyans in general who believe in good governance and integrity.'
