Community-based organisations (CBOs) in Elgeyo Marakwet County have benefited from Sh2, 077, 615 funding to undertake micro-economic activities and foster sustainable growth within local communities.The County Woman Representative Caroline Ngelechei emphasised the significance of the support, stating, 'This support will greatly boost many groups, among them Asis Dancers CBO, which was present during the disbursement.'Ng'elechei urged all beneficiaries to prudently utilise the funds to expand their activities and enhance their socio-economic impact.The cheques were distributed during a leadership training session sponsored by the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA), where over 70 women participated in the training, which aimed at enhancing their leadership skills and equipping them with the necessary tools for effective community engagement.Ngelechei highlighted the importance of training, stating, 'Training gives the beneficiaries an upper hand in managing the funds they have been allocated by NGAAF.'Anne Koech, a beneficiary of NGAAF funds and training from KEWOPA, echoed this sentiment, emphasising how the training would assist them in managing both the allocated funds and their existing businesses.Two women self-help groups, Upendo Women Self-Help Group and Ebenezer Women Self-Help Group from Katalel, received essential equipment to boost their economic activities.Upendo Women Self Help Group received a posho mill, while Ebenezer Women Self Help Group acquired a milk freezer, both donated by Ngelechei.Phanice Cherotich, a member of Upendo Women Self Help Group, expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting, 'We are looking forward to registering boosted income that will help elevate our livelihood.'Source: Kenya News Agency
