Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has raised concerns over the state of preparedness to handle all forms of disasters in Bomet County.Ruto said the county's state of roads especially in rural was poor which could not enable fire trucks to serve deserving cases. He said this yesterday in Konoin where he joined area Member of Parliament Brighton Yegon during a fundraiser for a family whose home was torched by fire a week ago.He further noted that even though the installation of a fire station in Bomet was at an advanced level, there was a need to purchase additional fire trucks to serve the five sub counties. He said one fire truck was not efficient enough to serve the whole county saying, coupled with inadequate staff, response to potential disasters could be futile. He added that fire was not the only disaster that could strike saying with the recent rains, there was need to sensitize the community on potential flash floods and how to mitigate the effects of such floods. This comes as two bodies were r ecently recovered in Nyongores and Kipsonoi rivers.Source: Kenya News Agency
