County And National Government Join Efforts To Improve Education Standards

Busia County leadership and other education stakeholders have come up with resolutions to address the low education standards in the County.

In a joint communique signed by Busia Governor Paul Otuoma and Busia Acting County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto, the stakeholders agreed to start a countywide discussion on education quality standards and devolve the forums to Sub counties and ward levels.

It was resolved that all leaders work together to ensure coordination and implementation of the efforts to effect improvement of education in the border county.

The forum also agreed to work together to attract their best sons and daughters to play important roles in schools like being members of school boards.

It was also agreed that school managers adopt best practices in managing schools and that at all levels reward, recognize and encourage good performance.

They also agreed to address issues guided by clear objectives, devoid of empty rhetoric and hostility.

Busia Acting County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto said that the region is known for scholars and academics but in the recent past, the education standards have gone down. ‘That’s why we have come up with a raft of resolutions that we are going to implement,’ he said.

Ruto thanked all the stakeholders for coming together and coming up with the roadmap with Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala assuring that all the area MPs will collaborate with the County Government to ensure that they disburse bursary and participate in school infrastructural development.
