The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, State Department of Creative Economy, conducted a stakeholder engagement to gather input from various creative industry youth, on the draft Creative Economy Policy and Creative Industries Bill.The Session, led by Mr. Ismail Maalim Madey, Principal Secretary (PS), State Department of Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, highlighted the significance of public participation, particularly involving the youth, in governance matters, aimed at enhancing their quality of life.PS emphasized that the new Bill and Policy were crafted to ensure the Creative Space's full potential in contributing to national development and uplifting all stakeholders, thus encouraging the youth to actively engage with government services, seize opportunities, and be proactive.County Executive Committee, Sumeya Bishar, from the Mandera County Government's Department of Social Services, asserted that the Bill aimed to address issues, showcase talents, and unlock the creative potential of the y outh, providing tangible benefits.Additionally, she announced the County government's initiative, to establish an innovation center, intending to keep the youth occupied and enhance their talents.Hence, the proposed Policy and Bill delineate the creative industries into several domains, including Visual Arts and Craft, Audio Visual and Interactive Media, Performing Arts, Design, and Literary Arts.However, stakeholders expressed a desire for additional domains to be included to encompass creative art forms that may have been left out of the documents.Source: Kenya News Agency
