Kericho: Education CS Julious Migos Ogamba has reiterated that the government will not rebuild schools destroyed by students’ violence. Ogamba stated that parents will bear the costs of rebuilding school facilities and structures destroyed by strike-related violence, maintaining that the government will not undertake such reconstructions.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mr. Ogamba made the remarks while addressing form four candidates at Litein High School today. He urged students to engage in dialogue and avoid destructive behaviors in resolving their education and boarding issues. ‘I want to encourage constructive discussions among learners, teachers, and parents in schools across the country to address issues affecting learning facilities and implement resolutions,’ CS Ogamba said.
On school capitation, the CS noted that some schools have not received funding due to insufficient reports on their learners, and has instructed affected schools to expedite necessary documentation. The education CS highlighted the recent Litein High School strike as a negative example of ungrateful students with criminal tendencies, which is not typical of Kenyan learners.
The CS wished the form four candidates success in the KCSE national examinations, citing continued education provided by the government in universities and technical colleges. The CS was flanked by the Kericho County Commissioner Dr. Kibe Maguta and the County Director of Education Julious Ingoneshi. Ogamba announced that the government will construct a non-porous wall around Litein High School to prevent unlawful and illegal access.
