It was song and dance at the Early Bird Primary School in Machakos after three of its candidates who sat for this year’s KCPE scored over 400 marks.
Elvis Bosire topped the class after he scored 407 out of the possible 500 marks.
Bosire was followed by James Israel and Leon Mutua who scored 403 and 400 marks respectively.
Bosire while speaking to the press at the school after receiving the results attributed the stellar performance to hard work and dedication.
‘I worked hard and I wish to thank my parents and teachers for the support they gave me,’ he said.
The 14-year-old hopes to join Alliance High School for his secondary education.
Ambrose Wamalwa the head teacher said out of the total candidature of 98 students, close to 91 learners scored over 300 marks.
‘The performance was impressive, we prepared the students very well and that is why they managed to post good results,’ said Wamalwa.
Little-known Kivai Primary, a public located at the border of Machakos and Makueni counties posted a mean scor
e of 339 marks.
The top candidate Kalekye Mwendwa scored 357 marks. Her dream school is Muthale Girls in Kitui County and she aspires to be a doctor in the future.
The head teacher Eliud Mutungi said the school recorded a notable improvement from last year’s mean score of 279 marks.
Mutungi said the school beat all odds including poverty and low enrollment to post the good results.
‘We had a total of nine candidates, the last candidate got 302 marks,’ he said.
