The director-general of Rádio Essencial, Emídio Fernando, died Wednesday in Lisbon (Portugal) victim of illness, ANGOP learnt Thursday.Historian, author and journalist, Emídio Fernando was born on October 12, 1965 in Seles municipality, Cuanza-Sul province.He worked and stood out in various Portuguese media outlets, including Jornal Tal and Qual, of which he was director, and in the TSF.Emídio Fernando returned to Angola for good in 2012, joining the team that founded the Nova Gazeta newspaper, where he served as executive editor.He took over the management of Rádio Essencial in 2017, a position he held until his death.Emídio Fernando leaves behind a widow and two daughtersSource: Angola Press News Agency
