Jomo Kenyatta Children's Home in Embu has gotten a shot in the arm after receiving cash and assorted items donations including foodstuffs, clothing and sanitary items from the Engineers Board of Kenya.The board is in Embu running an internship program for graduate engineers from various universities, ethnicities and backgrounds across the country at the Kenya School of Government to train them to become professionals.According to board member, Eng. Grace Onyango, wherever they go to carry out such programs, they engage in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities as a way of giving back to the society.'That is how we have ended up here at Jomo Kenyatta Children's Home as our activity for this time we are here,' she said.Speaking after handing over the donations, Eng. Onyango said one of the skills they also want the interns to learn is their responsibility to society.'We don't want them to just be technically competent, but to also have that heart for the society where they are going to work in,' Onyango said.The chair, Kenya Red Cross Embu County Branch that runs the home, Vimal Chadha appreciated the gesture, saying it will serve to put a smile on the faces of over 30 children at the orphanage that has been in existence for 48 years.He called on other well-wishers to come on board in restoring hope of these less fortunate children.Source: Kenya News Agency
