EU again demands customs duties to import honey from Ukraine

The European Commission has stopped duty-free imports of honey to the EU from Ukraine due to exceeding quotas, the authority said in a statement. regulation.

The European Commission highlighted that the volume of honey imports from January 1, 2024 exceeded the quota of 44,417.56 tonnes, which was stipulated in the amended EU Autonomous Trade Measures (ACM) adopted on June 6, 2024, on the basis of which Ukrainian agricultural exports were temporarily exempted from customs duties. As indicated by the European Commission, once the quota was exceeded, MCAs ceased automatically, with the consequence that from August 21, 2024 to June 5, 2025, imports of Ukrainian honey to the EU will be subject to quotas and duties provided for by the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement, that is to say the normal regime in place since 2016.
