Four suspects rob store in Soweto

Four male suspects reportedly robbed Airtime City in Windhoek’s Soweto U-Save complex of properties valued at over N.dollars 160 000 on Friday.

A weekend crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force availed on Sunday, stated that the four suspects allegedly held people in the shop at gunpoint around 11h26, shot three rounds at the victims and in the process a 55-year-old was injured. The suspects then removed properties such as a shotgun and cash valued at N.dollars 160 519.

No recovery has been made yet.

In a similar case, also in the capital, three suspects reportedly robbed a male victim of his valuables worth N.dollars 11 100 in a riverbed in Katutura on Saturday.

The incident happened around 20h00 when one of the suspects reportedly grabbed the victim while the other two took his belongings unlawfully.

The items include a Samsung Galaxy A20, an Adidas jersey, a PlayStation, and a Tempo watch, all valued at N.dollars 11 100 in total.

No recovery was made, nor were any arrests made.

In separate incident, a one-year-old baby girl died after drowning in a 20-litre bucket of water on Saturday at Wendelberg Farm, situated some 25 kilometres from Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region.

It is alleged that the baby was playing with other kids outside the house while the mother was doing laundry, only for her to discover later that her baby had drowned while she was hanging clothes on the hanging line.

The body was transported to the Tsumeb State Hospital for an autopsy and the next of kin have been informed.

A similar incident also happened at Oniimwandi village, Onayena on Saturday, where a one-year old baby girl drowned in a bucket full of water.

The baby reportedly drowned at a house nearby, while the baby’s mother was sleeping under a tree at the house at the time of the incident.

The body was transported to Onandjokwe State Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem, and the next of kin have been notified.

Police investigations in all matters continue.
