The French Embassy in Cameroon has revealed that at the request of Cameroon authorities, the Crisis and Support Center of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Embassy in Cameroon, and Geomines France 'have set up a mine clearance training program for Cameroonian security forces for 3 years.''The result of several years of preparatory work, this initiative has strong ambitions: to encourage continuous learning of demining techniques in Cameroon, and to facilitate access to demining equipment for the authorities.' The Embassy wrote.The training program includes some 24 trainees from the École Nationale Supérieure de Police who have taken part in an initial training session.Cameroon is facing conflicts on two fronts; Boko Haram terrorists in the far North region and Anglophone Separatists in the South West and North West region who want to create a state they called Ambazonia.Mines are being used mostly in the Far North region while in the Anglophone regions, the Separatists make use o f Improvised Explosive Devices, IED.Source: Cameroon News Agency
