Ganzourgou: The High Commissioner listens to the populations of Zoungou

The High Commissioner of Ganzourgou province, Ms. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, held an exchange meeting with the active forces of the commune of Zoungou (25 km northeast of Zorgho) on August 6 2024. The meeting took place in the town hall meeting room, following the traditional raising of colors ceremony.

This meeting, which is part of a local tour, allowed a direct and frank dialogue between the first administrative manager of the province and the populations represented by the leaders of youth and women’s organizations, the heads of departmental services, as well as customary and religious authorities.

For the High Commissioner, the objective of this meeting was to collect citizens’ concerns, provide immediate responses wherever possible, and transmit other grievances to the competent authorities.

The Chief Medical Officer of the health district (MCD) of Zorgho, Dr Delphin Kaboré, took the opportunity to raise awareness of the risks linked to malaria, dengue fever, and hepatitis.

His detailed explanations, sup
ported by concrete figures, made it possible to better understand the extent of these public health problems.

He invited populations to protect themselves against mosquito bites, to ensure that they take the medications distributed during seasonal malaria chemo-prevention campaigns, and to clean up their living environment.

The discussions then focused on the daily concerns of the populations. The state of road infrastructure, access to care, hygiene and sanitation, the proliferation of the tiger mosquito which transmits dengue fever, and vaccination against hepatitis B were, among other things, the issues discussed.

Faced with these requests, the High Commissioner assured the populations of his determination to work to improve their living conditions.

She took note of all the concerns expressed and committed to reporting to the appropriate authorities for appropriate responses. However, she invited the populations to greater community participation in development actions.

This meeting was welcomed by th
e participants who saw it as proof of the authorities’ desire to get closer to the populations.

It also helped strengthen the feeling of belonging to a community and create a spirit of collective responsibility.
