Nairobi: Golf in Kenya will soon have one umbrella body to house the amateurs, ladies, professionals, and juniors. Golf has been going through a transition period, and now, a new law has been introduced to put everyone in the Golf Kenya Federation under the Sports Act 2013.According to Kenya News Agency, an AGM has been organized to adopt the new golf constitution that will bring the Kenya Golf Union (KGU), the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU), Professional Golf Kenya (PGK), the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF), and the Kenya Open Golf Limited under one roof. 'The beauty of the art is that there is a transition committee working to ensure that everybody will be included in the new federation. There is a broader prospect for all of us to be leaders and to manage golf going forward,' said Phillip Ocholla, the President of the Kenya Golf Union.Ocholla added that nine people have been running golf in Kenya, and the sport has grown bigger in the last four years, which necessitates a change in leadership. 'I look for ward to serving with all of you in the next couple of years as we grow and build golf. Madame Regina Gachora, we look forward to seeing you serve in the development committee that will be created in developing golf,' he said.Ocholla was speaking at the Muthaiga Lady Captain's prize for the outgoing lady captain Regina Gachora. Other than being Lady Captain at Muthaiga, she is also the president of the Junior Golf Foundation and has worked with the federation to manage and organize the Magical Kenya Open and the ladies' European Tour in Vipingo.
