Nairobi: Public servants responsible for overseeing government-funded projects have been urged to prioritize timely completion and ensure high-quality outcomes. Nairobi County Commissioner David Wanyonyi emphasized this during the National Government Development-Regional/County Implementation Coordination and Management Committee (NGD-RICMC/CICMC) meeting. The meeting, held at the Regional Commissioners Boardroom at Nyayo House, was attended by Director of the Government Delivery Unit, Jonah Orumoi.According to Kenya News Agency, Wanyonyi highlighted the government's substantial investment in various projects within Nairobi County, underscoring the importance of achieving value for money through quality work. He specifically called on officials supervising the construction of a Science and Technology project at Nairobi School to ensure the contractor meets the project's deadline.Additionally, Wanyonyi addressed the issue of Identification Cards (ID), urging the public to register at designated centers. He clarified that vetting committees for ID cards ceased operations as of May 1, 2024, and cautioned applicants against falling victim to fraudulent committees. However, he noted that passport applicants would still undergo a vetting process before issuance.Nairobi Area Regional Registration of Persons Officer, Fabian Mugwika, further encouraged residents without ID cards to register. He explained that electronic processing of ID cards takes only three to four days. Mugwika also conveyed that, per the President's directive, new applicants and those correcting minor errors on their IDs would not incur any charges, while individuals replacing lost IDs or altering particulars would be required to pay a fee of Sh1000.
