Nairobi: Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba Migosi and other Senior Ministry Officers today met with officials from the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) and the Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU), as well as Representatives of the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), at Jogoo House to address the ongoing TUK Staff strike among other issues.According to Kenya News Agency, the meeting was convened in an effort to find a resolution to the strike that has disrupted operations at the university. The participants discussed various aspects of the dispute, aiming to reach a consensus that would allow academic activities to resume at TUK.The unions have raised concerns over employment terms and conditions, which they argue have not been adequately addressed by the university administration. During the meeting, both parties were expected to negotiate on key demands, including salary adjustments and improved working conditions for the staff at TUK.The Education Ministry expressed its commitment to en suring that the issues are resolved amicably, emphasizing the importance of stability in the educational sector. The outcome of the discussions will be closely watched by stakeholders, as it could set a precedent for handling similar disputes in other institutions across the country.
