Joho and Duale Advocate for Muslim Unity at Mombasa Event

Mombasa: Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Ali Joho and Aden Duale are advocating for unity within the Muslim community to support the government and promote the acquisition of national Identity Cards.

According to Kenya News Agency, Joho, who oversees the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, spoke at the Third Annual Graduation ceremony of the Ibn Abbas Islamic Centre in Mombasa. He stressed the significance of the Muslim community’s engagement in national politics and leadership roles. Joho highlighted the abolition of extra vetting procedures for national IDs as a progressive step, urging Muslims to register for IDs and voter registration in large numbers. He predicted that the 2027 voter count would show a significant increase, paving the way for a potential Muslim President in the 2032 General Election. Joho also criticized those opposing the removal of additional vetting, accusing them of political maneuvering.

Aden Duale, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, assured the Muslim community that he and Joho would prevent harmful policies during their tenure. Highlighting the influence of Muslim and pastoralist communities across 20 counties, Duale pledged to ensure these groups vote cohesively to support President Ruto’s re-election.

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir acknowledged the discomfort caused by Muslim unity in certain circles. He announced plans to assist individuals lacking IDs and birth certificates by working with Ward Administrators. Nassir emphasized action over words to advance this agenda.

Garissa Town MP, Mohamed Dekow, committed to mobilizing North Eastern residents for voter registration ahead of the 2027 elections. Bura MP, Yakub Adow, called upon Joho and Duale to guide the Muslim community politically. Adow stated that no previous government in Kenya has championed Muslim rights as effectively as President William Ruto’s administration.

Nominated MP, Abdisirat Ali, suggested that opposition to President Ruto is rooted in his commitment to equality and fair resource distribution across the nation.
