At least 500 learners from Kajiado are set to benefit from education scholarships worth Sh40 million courtesy of the Kajiado county government.The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Jeremiah ole Ncharo says that the scholarship will target learners pursuing university, colleges and secondary education in the coming year.Applications are invited for students pursuing degree and diploma courses in the Engineering, ICT, Education, Health, Water, Agriculture, Fashion and Design, Housing, Environment and Conservation sectors offered by various reputable institutions in the country. Though the list of courses is not exhaustive, priority will be given to training courses that target Governor Lenku's four-point agenda namely; modulated pastoralism, livable towns, globally competitive education and climate proofed physical environment.The CECM points out that the county will ensure equity in the award of the scholarships and students from vulnerable groups in the society such as orphans, hu mble family backgrounds, and people with disabilities (PWDs) are encouraged to apply.The applicants must however be residents of Kajiado county, living in the ward from which they are applying from, be admitted in a reputable training institution in the country and from a vulnerable family background.Applications are also open for secondary school scholarships for candidates who sat for KCPE in the year 2023 and are eligible to join Form 1 in 2024.The applicants must have attained 300 marks and above in KCPE, be admitted in a national or extra county school and must also be from a vulnerable family background in Kajiado county.Duly filled application forms and relevant attachments must be submitted to the office of the respective ward administrator on or before December 29, 2023. Upon submission of the application forms, applicants must be issued with an application reference number.Source: Kenya News Agency
