Kakamega Law Court Issues New Security Measures

The Kakamega law court has reviewed security measures with a view to improve security for all court users.

In a notice to the Judiciary staff and court users, Kakamega Law Court Senior Principal Magistrate Joseph Nduriri said Gate 1 of the court will be used exclusively by Judges, Magistrates, and prison vehicles ferrying remandees in and out of the court.

‘The parking area for judges and magistrates is out of bounds to all except security officials attached to judges and magistrates,’ the notice read.

Advocates and other court users using motor vehicles will be required to use Gate 2, where they will undergo mandatory security checks and screening.

The court has, however, closed Gate C, which will be out of bounds for court users.

Further directives in the same notice provide that Gate 4 of the court shall be used as the entrance and exit for all judicial staff using motor vehicles and pedestrian court users, including those using motorcycles and bicycles.

‘Every person using this gate will be screened
and will be required to produce their identification documents,’ the notice reads.

‘We have provided clear signage within the court buildings to help our users find their destinations. Kindly strictly follow the directions on the signage. Our customer service staff and all members of staff will always be on hand to assist our users in finding their destinations,’ the notice reads.
