Kalonzo Declares Opposition Strongly United

Machakos: Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared that the opposition team remains strong and united. Kalonzo was speaking at his Yatta farm in Machakos, where he had hosted several opposition leaders, 23 public university dons, and 30 student leaders from campuses across the country. He assured them that the united coalition had no intentions of crumbling and would stick together to the end.

According to Kenya News Agency, Kalonzo cautioned the leaders against internal divisions and emphasized that their commitment as opposition should withstand all challenges. He remarked, "As political leaders, we agreed to have a team, and the team is building up strongly. Let's not dismember the team."

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi, who was also present, reiterated their commitment to national transformational change and pledged loyalty and unity to the opposition despite speculation of internal rifts. He commended Kalonzo for his efforts in charting a path for the 2027 elections and highlighted activities such as consensus building, intellectual meetings, and other engagements across the country to agree on the opposition flag bearer for 2027.

Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, recently appointed as the United Opposition spokesperson and head of Secretariat, noted the importance of including university student leaders. He stated this inclusion is proof that no generation is better than the other and emphasized creating conditions for younger Kenyans to sit with political leaders and discuss the national agenda, focusing on education and development.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti called on the national government to prioritize devolution and ensure timely funding to enable governors to deliver on their mandate for the success of devolution. Other attendees included former Attorney General Justin Muturi, lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, and county officials.
