Hundreds of Bodaboda operators in Kericho Town befitted from a day-long sensitization forum on the new medical insurance cover Social Health Authority (SHA), which ensures a healthier, more equitable and quality care without financial worry.Addressing the riders at the Kiprugut Chumo Stadium, the National Executive Chairman of Bodaboda Association of Kenya Mr. Kevin Mbadi expounded on the significance of SHA which is designed to provide healthcare services from empaneled to contracted healthcare providers and healthcare facilities on referral from Primary Health Facilities.He assured the bodaboda riders that they would receive affordable and quality healthcare services from Hospitals in case of accidents or illnesses adding that their families would also benefit from the insurance, therefore he urged them to be consistent in their monthly contributions to SHA.'There will be no need to worry about raising funds through seeking contributions from friends and families to get treated as the insurance scheme will cater for all expenses.' added MbadiAccording to the Ministry of Health, the benefits under the Social Health Authority include Preventive, Promotive, Curative, Rehabilitative, and Palliative health services which will be provided at level 4, 5, and 6 health facilities under the fund.This includes emergency services, critical care services beyond the benefits in the essential healthcare benefits package, and treatment and management of chronic illnesses beyond the benefits in the essential healthcare benefits package of the Social Health Authority.The Bodaboda riders also benefited from training on how to form Saccos which would help them in saving and investing from their daily earnings.The National Chairman of the Bodaboda Association also encouraged them to enroll in driving schools to improve their road skills, urging them to always adhere to traffic regulations to avert accidents that may cost them their lives.Meanwhile, Kericho County Chairman of the Bodaboda Association Mr. Edwin Koros w ho was also present urged the Bodaboda operators to register their insurance covers with his office so that they can be compensated when involved in accidents.Source: Kenya News Agency
