Kiambu Para-athletes team has been flagged-off to the Para-athletics National trials, which will take place at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret.The Team which was flagged-off by Kiambu County Executive (CECM) for Youth Affairs, Sports, and Communication, Ali Osman, will compete in several Paralympic events, during the three-day national trials in Uasin Gishu county.'Our team will be represented by 10 athletes, who will compete across various Paralympic events and they will be travelling Thursday, since the national trials are scheduled to begin tomorrow (today) January 18th -20th at Kipchoge Keino Stadium,' said Osman.The sports CECM added that the team, will be accompanied by the nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Persons Living with Disabilities, Jacinta Bacha, as they vie for tickets to the 2024 Paralympic games, scheduled for August 28 to September 2.'The national trials have been organized by the Kenya National Paralympic Committee (KNPC), to produce teams that will represent Keny a at the Tunis Games in March and Kobe Japan World Championships, set for May this year,' cited Osman.The Kiambu County nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Persons with Disabilities, Jacinta Bacha, said the team is well prepared and ready to use these platforms to explore their talents.'We are ready and raring to go for the trials and I am sure out of this team, we will have players who will qualify for the world major event,' said BachaThis event, according to KNPC, is intended to identify new sporting talents, targeting young persons with disabilities and also serves as a pathway to the world Paralympic Games, scheduled for August 28, 2024 to September 8, 2024 in France.Source: Kenya News Agency
