Man shoots himself at Walvis Bay

SWAKOPMUND: A 50-year-old man reportedly committed suicide in Walvis Bay by shooting himself in the chest during the early hours of Monday morning.

According to Namibian Police Force Head of Community Policing in Erongo Region Inspector Ileni Shapumba in a crime incident report on Monday, the deceased body was discovered by neighbours who entered his shack after hearing a gunshot at about 06h30 in Kuisebmund.

It is alleged that when the neighbours entered the shack, they found the deceased lying on the floor with blood flowing from his upper body, after which they called the police, who upon arrival and investigation, discovered that the deceased shot himself with a .38 revolver on the left upper side of his chest.

The deceased reportedly left a suicide note, however contents thereof could not be disclosed.

The deceased has been identified as Gabriel Kapweya Sheehama and his next of kin have been informed.
