Maua: Residents of Maua in Igembe South Sub-County have been urged to desist from illegal water connections as authorities step up enforcement measures. Maua Town Municipal Manager Timothy Mwenda issued the stern warning stating that anyone caught engaging in unauthorized water connections will face penalties or legal action.According to Kenya News Agency, Mwenda emphasized the importance of following legal procedures when accessing water services, stressing that illegal connections not only lead to water shortages but also pose a significant risk to the town's water distribution system, which could ultimately affect all residents. 'The law is clear on the issue of illegal connections, and we will not hesitate to take action against those flouting the rules,' he stated.The Municipal Manager urged residents to assist in protecting the provision of water services by reporting any suspicious activities or illegal connections to help in safeguarding water resources. He further noted that the municipality was working to ensure that all residents accessed clean and reliable water through proper channels and urged members of the public to cooperate with the authorities to prevent further exploitation of the water supply.Mwenda further assured the residents that the ongoing construction of a sewer line for the town will be completed by September 2025, hence improving overall sanitation and hygiene in the area.
