Yaounde: The Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) for the South West, Madam Telelen Dorothy Atabong Motaze, traveled on April 3 to Mbonge, Meme Division. She bore news of how the local population and the Council can better collaborate to attain developmental goals.According to Cameroon News Agency, this visit came after Tinto in the Manyu Division. Mbonge trails development in the Division due to a tense social climate, wheeled on an eight-year-long socio-political conflict in the North West and South West regions.Dorothy Atabong stated that the exchange was essential in educating the grassroots population about the institution and the people's rights and obligations. At the same time, it provides a platform for the population and the local authorities' Mayor to interact. "I see a great improvement ahead," she expressed at the end.Community members, like Enoh Tambe Belta, a businesswoman, left satisfied. She was able to communicate the challenges of the market woman. Though ready-made solutions were not given to her, the Mbonge Mayor explained the nitty gritty of the stakes and promised her adjustments in the days ahead.The vice of corruption is affecting service delivery in Mbonge. It was made known that recent council deliberations had created an anti-corruption unit for the municipality. The Mayor stated that this body would have membership of civil society actors, clergymen, and trusted community members."They are going to listen to the cry of the population. With a mandate to give good governance, transparency, and rights protection," Mayor Daniel Matta Mokambe stated.The key area of population concern in Mbonge, as stated by the 2024 OPIC report, is that of good road networks. The area's population, the majority of whom are farmers, face difficulties getting their produce to the markets.
