Moiben: The Moiben Rehabilitation Centre has continued to register remarkable progress since its establishment, fulfilling its mission of supporting recovery and treatment for individuals struggling with drug addiction. Speaking during the first therapy session for the sixth cohort of clients currently undergoing treatment, facility officers and invited guests lauded the centre for its transformative impact on both addicts and the broader community.
According to Kenya News Agency, so far, out of the 56 clients who have fully recovered since the programme began, 11 have secured international job opportunities-an achievement attributed to the holistic recovery support they received at the centre. Parents, guardians, relatives, and friends who attended the session commended the initiative, noting that it has positively changed countless lives across different social backgrounds.
“We are grateful to the Governor for establishing this facility, and we request that it be expanded to accommodate more men and women battling similar challenges,” said one of the parents during the session. According to a Director at the Alcoholic Drinks Control Board (ADCB), Mr. Koiya Arap Maiyo, the centre has become a game changer in the county’s fight against drug and substance abuse. Koiya noted that it provides a unique opportunity for clients to engage with their families during therapy sessions, strengthening their recovery journey.
The rehabilitation and treatment services at the Moiben Rehabilitation Centre are offered completely free of charge by the County Government of Uasin Gishu.
