The chairperson of Nyumba Kumi in Sidho East in Muhoroni Sub County in Kisumu County Peter Onduu has appealed to youth in the area to steer off the consumption of illicit brews that he noted was wasting away their lives.Onduu lamented over uncontrolled and excessive consumption of illicit brew in the area especially at Nyasoe that has led to many school children dropping out of school and joining local criminal gangsThis is even as a local identified as Lawrence Okeyo was hacked to death at a local drinking den and his legs cut off by a friend of his identified as Gregory Oyier.The victim was rushed to the hospital while his attacker fled with police now on his trail.'To our youths steeped in consuming illicit alcohol especially chan'gaa especially in this surrounding of Kendu we are telling them it's enough, said Ondu.He also called for closer cooperation amongst all stakeholders including parents and security in curbing these societal ills.Source: Kenya News Agency
