Narok county has become the second county to host the County Business Week Expo trade event that brings together corporate organizations and businesses drawn from different sectors of the economy to showcase their products, services and capacity to serve the market in different counties.The project manager at the County business week Kinuthia Chege, while speaking to the media at Ole Ntimama stadium, said the aim was to bring different businesses stakeholders and exhibitors together across the counties to have a three days' conference and trade shows.'Our mandate is bringing businesses together to have a conversation on sustainable partnership in trade and development,' said Chege.He said over 60 exhibitors have already come to camp for three days showcasing their products and have engaged in partnerships with the government, calling upon more business to come on board.'It is an honour to see many stakeholders and businesses to have a conservation together with the government in order to partner toge ther,' added Chege.Chege said they have been conducting such conferences in Nairobi County, with Narok County becoming the second host county and they planned to move it to Nakuru County thereafter.The County Executive committee (CEC) in charge Trade, Cooperative Development, Tourism and Wildlife Johnson Sipitiek said the county government is creating an enabling environment to make sure that the businesses are run smoothly within the county.'The county government is creating an enabling environment, ensuring everybody to is enjoying the doing business within the county,' said Sipitiek.The CEC also said that the President's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) focuses on the hustlers and that is why the county is targeting the common man so that they have space to conduct their businesses.Sipitiek also said that the President has priorities in the BETA geared towards economic turnaround and inclusive growth through a value chain approach.He added that the county government is keen on the investments in agriculture, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Economy also highlighted in BETA.Faizah Adijah who works in the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) said that the mandate of the Authority is to link the local investments to the international markets as the EPZA Kenya programme aimed at ensuring that international trade takes place.Adijah also said that the authority shares information in regards to the SMEs programme to individuals who own businesses, in order to encourage Kenyans to export their products to foreign markets.Source: Kenya News Agency
