Nairobi: The National SMACHS Foundation and its much-anticipated Centre of Excellence Strategic Plan 2025-2030 were officially unveiled on Thursday at the demonstration garden and office headquarters in Karen, Nairobi. This significant event marks a milestone in the efforts to promote climate-smart agriculture across Kenya.
According to Kenya News Agency, Charlene Chelangat, CEO and founder of the SMACHS Foundation and daughter of President Ruto, explained that the Centre of Excellence is a collaborative initiative between the SMACHS Foundation and its strategic partners. The primary goal of the center is to inspire, train, and empower communities through practical demonstrations of climate-smart agricultural practices.
Charlene Ruto emphasized that the SMACHS Foundation Centre of Excellence will serve as a dynamic educational hub where innovation converges with sustainability. It aims to integrate technology, learning, and resilience while mentoring young individuals to pursue agribusiness as a pathway to economic growth, food security, and environmental stewardship.
The center features diverse units such as seedling propagation, tree nursery units, smart agritech, and apiculture classrooms, which are designed to nurture innovation and promote sustainable practices. These facilities will equip communities with the necessary skills and tools to thrive in a changing climate.
Charlene further noted that the revenue generated from the farm will be directed towards sustaining the foundation’s operational capacity and ensuring the continuity of the center’s impact-driven initiatives. Alongside the launch, the SMACHS Centre of Excellence Strategic Plan 2025-2030 was revealed, outlining the vision, priorities, and pathways for impactful work over the next five years.
