The Department of Public Health at Loitoktok Sub County hospital has issued a public notice on disposal of unclaimed bodies lying at Loitoktok hospital mortuary with no next of kin claiming them.
According to the notice the bodies are congesting the mortuary hence hampering the smoothing running of the facility.
In the notice dated May 20th 2024, the public health office has requested members of the public who have lost relatives to visit the mortuary and view the bodies for identification within 14 days from May 20, 2024 to June 6th, 2024 between the hours 9am to 4pm on weekdays.
Failure of which the office will not make further reference but to take necessary action of disposing off the bodies as stipulated in Public Health Act Cap 242 Laws of Kenya.
The office intends to dispose of 24 bodies, among them a body that has been lying at the mortuary since early 2018 while 16 bodies have been there since last year and 7 bodies this year up to the month of March.
