Leaders from the villages of Ntumbaw and Njirong have agreed to follow recommendations from the North West region governor to resolve a land dispute that has lasted more than 30 years and resulted in significant loss of life and property, the Donga Mantung Community Radio reported.Donga Mantung's Senior Divisional Officer Mr. Basiliken George Magloire Emmanuel presided over the discussions on Tuesday August 13, 2024. The Wimbum Fon's Union, initiated the meeting with the fons of both villages and a cross-section of Wimbum fons from Ndu and Nkambe, taking part.Emphasizing that all land belongs to the state and that local leaders are merely caretakers, the SDO urged against further violence. The SDO also provided an opportunity for the president of the Wimbum Fons Union, Fon Kamanda Charles, and other fons to address the gathering.Speakers condemned the ongoing violence and loss of life related to the land dispute. They urged the administration to seek a peaceful and lasting resolution.After discussing various proposals, the villages' leaders agreed to four resolutions recommended by the governor. Among these are the establishment of a Peace Building Commission, led by the mayor of Ndu, and the demarcation of boundaries between Njirong and Ntumbaw. The boundary demarcation, expected to end the dispute, is scheduled for completion by December 2024. Implementation of other resolutions is already underway.Source : Cameroon News Agency
