As the new academic year begins, the government of Cameroon is intensifying efforts to end the ongoing school boycott in the Northwest and Southwest regions. The boycott, which has been enforced by separatist fighters since 2016, has disrupted education for thousands of children.The Regional Delegate of Communication for the Northwest Region, Njike Celestine Atadebe, has called on the people of Cameroon to unite against the boycott and demand that schools reopen. He emphasized the importance of education for the future of the region and condemned the actions of the separatists.He emphasises that government officials, religious leaders, civil society organizations, and the media have all voiced their opposition to the boycott. They have urged parents and students to resist the separatists' demands and return to school.Despite government efforts to improve security in the affected regions, many schools remain closed due to ongoing violence and threats. The international community has also condemned the s chool boycott and called for an end to the conflict, he noted.The future of the Northwest and Southwest regions depends on the education of their youth.
