One Person Dies in Matatu Accident Along Murang’a – Kenol Road

Murang’a: One person has died following a Wednesday morning grisly road accident that occurred at Wanjii, along the Murang’a – Kenol Road.

According to Kenya News Agency, Murang’a County Traffic Enforcement Officer Stephen Wainaiana reported that the deceased, a 45-year-old man, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment. The deceased was the conductor of the ill-fated Matatu.

Wainaina stated that 12 adults and seven minors who sustained soft tissue injuries were rushed to Murang’a Level Five Hospital where they are receiving treatment. The body of the deceased was moved to the hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The accident occurred when the Matatu belonging to Kigumo Sacco lost control and veered off the road following a front left tyre burst, landing on its roof.

“I heard a loud bang, then I saw the vehicle in the air, I have never seen anything like that before,” an eyewitness said, noting that some of the passengers appeared severely hurt.
