NANYUKI: Over 10,000 candidates are currently sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams in Laikipia County, with examinations being conducted across 143 centers. Laikipia County Director of Education, Reverend Francis Shikanda, disclosed this information during the opening of an exam container in Nanyuki, highlighting the distribution of candidates and the efforts to ensure the credibility of the exams.According to Kenya News Agency, Reverend Shikanda specified that 10,325 candidates are from public schools, while 526 candidates are private students. He stressed the importance of adhering to measures to prevent malpractices and reminded center managers to strictly follow the laws governing the exams.Laikipia County Commissioner Onesmus Kyatha assured that security measures have been strengthened at all exam centers and that the administration of the exams is proceeding smoothly without any anticipated challenges. Kyatha emphasized that transport and security arrangements have b een meticulously organized to ensure the exams are conducted credibly.He further mentioned the readiness of a multi-agency team to tackle any issues that may arise during the exam period, assuring that all necessary preparations are in place to conclude the exam exercise without interruptions.Across the country, over 960,000 candidates are participating in the KCSE exams, which are scheduled to conclude on Friday, January 21, 2024. The exams commenced with English and Chemistry paper 1, and will continue with a series of subjects including Mathematics, Kiswahili, and various religious and science subjects in the coming days.
