The Hospitality Industry plays a critical role in the economic and social development of Nakuru County, including generating significant tax revenues, creating jobs for the residents, and boosting tourism among others.To spur the growth of this industry, the Hotel Owners Association led by Chairman Benson Mwangi Wangai held a meeting with Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones to brainstorm and resolve challenges bedeviling the sector.Among the issues highlighted as essential for attracting tourism and supporting the industry include, increased water supply to meet the demands of the growing industry, settlement of Pending Bills, and enhanced security measures to ensure a secure environment for guests.The meeting also discussed infrastructure development that includes the timely completion of projects such as Afraha Stadium, Lanet Airport, and the establishment of a Cultural Centre in Nakuru city. The hotel owners bemoaned the delayed completion of the stadium, which in the past attracted Kenya Premier Lea gue football matches and brought them a lot of customers.Deputy Governor Kones gave his assurance that the County will review the concerns raised. He has committed to a follow-up meeting with more stakeholders that will focus on tangible actions to address these issues.
