President visits works on national maritime surveillance centre

Angolan head of State João Lourenço Thursday in Luanda assessed the works on the National Center for Maritime Coordination and Surveillance, with an execution standing at 36.44 percent.

The president was briefed on the progress of works of the infrastructure, awarded to the construction company on September 11, 2019.

The contract of the project is estimated at US$ 60.9 million. The project will accommodate technical equipment for maritime surveillance of the Angolan coast and will be managed by the Angolan Navy.

Angola has a coastline of 1,650 kilometers from north to south, bathed by the

Atlantic Ocean.

The construction of the infrastructure is part of the Angolan Executive’s project aimed to provide the Angolan Navy with modern means to better respond to the sector’s challenges, including in the country’s Exclusive Maritime Economic Zone.
