Security guard sustains serious injuries after attack at Okahandja

A 29-year-old security guard sustained serious injuries after he was allegedly attacked by two male robbers at around 01h25 on Sunday at Otjiwarongo’s Freedom Park in the Otjozondjupa Region.

In a crime report issued on Sunday, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) stated that the security guard received a report that there are people who wanted to break into an unoccupied new NHE house, after which he then decided to walk to the said house since he was guarding those houses.

It is alleged that the security guard was attacked by the two unknown suspects who were hiding under a tree and started shooting at him. The suspect reportedly fled with the guard’s firearm, after assaulting him and stabbing him in the head with a screw driver.

The police said that the security guard sustained head injuries but is in stable condition in the Otjiwarongo State Hospital where he was rushed for treatment.

In another incident, a 32-year-old Namibian woman was robbed of properties valued at more than N.dollars 7000 after suspects told her to pull over at about 13h00 while driving on the B1 road at Oshikango in the Ohangwena Region on Saturday.

The police stated that the victim was driving to Omafo from Oshikango, when the suspects’ vehicle came from behind and ordered her to pull over, and after the victim stopped her car, the unknown suspects allegedly jumped out of their vehicle, with one holding a knife.

It is alleged that one suspect opened the passenger door of the victim’s vehicle and took the victim’s handbag, one iPhone cellphone and N.dollars 7000 in cash. The one suspect allegedly stabbed the victim’s vehicle’s tyres with a knife before driving away.

The police acted swiftly and as a result one adult male suspect was arrested at his home at Omuluka village.

No recovery has been made yet and police investigations continue.
